Things To Do in Okmulgee Lake Area

The Okmulgee & Dripping Springs Lake & Recreation Area was once a state park and boasts the state’s first trophy bass lake, as well as a gorgeous spillway that was created in the 1930s by the CCC and WPA. Outdoor enthusiasts will also appreciate a visit to the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge, which offers bountiful hiking, kayaking, hunting and fishing.

Head into historic downtown Okmulgee to spot over 100 historic buildings, like the Orpheum Theater from the early 1920s and the Creek Council House Museum that dates back to 1878. Okmulgee is the home of the Muscogee Nation, and the annual Muscogee Nation Festival is held there each summer. Or visit Henryetta, hometown of football star Troy Aikman, to explore the local history and find unique shopping and dining options.
