Heyburn Lake Area

Located just southwest of Tulsa, Heyburn Lake offers 920 surface acres and 52 miles of shoreline surrounded by lush, picturesque grasslands and wooded hills. Heyburn Lake offers boating, swimming, camping, fishing and hunting among other outdoors activities. Anglers prize the lake for its abundant catfish and also flock to the headwaters and arms of Polecat, Tiger and Brown creeks to fish for largemouth bass, crappie and sunfish. Public hunting lands and campgrounds offering tent and RV camping on the shores of Heyburn Lake help to make it a perfect outdoor recreation destination.

Nearby towns in the Heyburn Lake area include Sapulpa, Bristow and Kellyville. In addition to bountiful outdoor recreation opportunities, the area is home to a stretch of Route 66 with plenty of nostalgia to enthrall fans of The Mother Road. Visit the Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum in Sapulpa and ogle an impressive collection of antique and classic cars as you relive the glory days of Route 66. You'll also find some 1920s-era treasures in Sapulpa including the Waite Phillips Gas Station Museum and the Rock Creek Bridge which is one of the best remaining examples of steel truss bridges. Continue your journey to bygone days in Bristow at the Historical Train Depot & Museum recreating the town square from the 1920s.

In addition to the campgrounds surrounding Heyburn Lake, there are some vacation rental homes and other lodging choices and plentiful restaurants in the area.
