Festivals & Events in Pawnee

Two must see festivals and events in Pawnee include the Wild West Fest and the Oklahoma Steam Threshing and Gas Engine Show.  The Wild West Fest extols the “Pawnee Bill” Lillie and wife, Mary, famous for their Wild West Shows.  Performers actually “re-enact” the excitement of horse drawn stagecoaches with the sound of gunfire around the Lillie’s and their accomplices.  Other features include a medicine man show, gunfighters and musicians, all historically accurate.

The annual Pawnee Oklahoma Steam Threshing and Gas Engine Show one can view actual displays that harken to days gone by such as a steam powered sawmill and corn being ground into corn meal. There is a trading post, delicious food and drink and music.  Be sure to stick around for the evening show of the engines putting on a “spark” show.  So fun to see.
