In the western third of Green Country, the “High Plains”, you’ll find thriving cities and charming towns rising from the bountiful Plains and Prairies of yesteryear. There is so much here, from a Frank Lloyd Wright skyscraper to an indoor ocean overflowing with amazing sea creatures.

This region is steeped in legends of Native Americans, oil barons, cowboys, entrepreneurs and ranchers—remembered in the outstanding museums such as Tulsa’s Gilcrease and Philbrook, Bartlesville’s Woolaroc, and Ponca City’s Marland Mansion. The Tallgrass Prairie Preserve near Pawhuska allows a glimpse at our nation’s past with a drive among hundreds of bison, thriving in a prairie paradise.

Green Country’s “Foothills” region offers a diverse terrain where visitors enjoy all the great outdoors has to offer. Hikers especially love the rolling hills and miles of trails in the area’s many parks.

This southern part of Green Country is brimming with lakes, museums, wineries and a rich history that is explored through live performances and re-enactments. The annual events and festivals are outstanding and range from Muskogee’s Azalea Festival to the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival.
