Oologah, OK

Historic downtown Oologah includes restored buildings and the Oologah Historical Museum.

The Cherokee Kid Monument at the historic town pump honors Will Rogers. The I.W.W. Beck Building and the Bank of Oologah building are on the National Register of Historic Places.

Humorist Will Rogers, one of America's favorite sons, was born near Oologah in 1879. His house was moved up the hill when Oologah Lake was filled. Now, majestic longhorn cattle again graze the rich pastures, just like they did in Roger's childhood, along with:

  • Lamb
  • Goat
  • Geese
  • Peacock
The Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch is now a living history ranch, which is open daily.

The birthplace overlooks beautiful Oologah Lake, offering:

  • Boating
  • Hunting
  • Fishing
  • Camping
  • Swimming
Oologah Lake is one of the best sailing lakes in the southwest, with 29,500 acres of water lying north and south.
