The spirit of the American West comes alive at Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum, home of the world's largest and most comprehensive collection of western art. The permanent collection covers the period from colonial days to the present and contains more than 10,000 drawings, paintings, prints and sculptures by 400 artists, including Frederic Remington, Charles Russell and Thomas Moran.

Gilcrease Museum's unparalleled collection of Native American art and artifacts features exhibitions focused on the:

  • American West
  • American Portraits
  • American Genre and
  • Las Artes de Mexico, a hands-on, interactive exhibition highlighting the art, culture and history of Mexico.
  • See the works of non-western artists also, such as James McNeil Whistler, John Singer Sergeant, Winslow Homer and John James Audubon.

Using the Gilcrease collections as a guide, historical theme gardens have been developed on twenty-three of the museum's 460 acres. These gardens enhance the museum's collections by reflecting gardening styles and techniques from five time periods in the American West:

  • Pre-Columbian
  • Pioneer
  • Colonial
  • Victorian and Rock.

Tour the museum, the gardens and have lunch in the Osage Restaurant. From an appetizer of buffalo quesadillas to an entree of seared filet of catfish, Gilcrease's Osage Restaurant has a little something for everyone.

  • Lunch:  11am - 2pm, Tuesday-Saturday
  • Brunch: 11am- 2pm,  Sunday
